Training 04-05-18

There was only 3 of us for lunch class today so it turned into a semi private lesson. One of the guys is a brand new white belt, very athletic and currently in the very eager to learn phase.

We started with a couple takedowns from snap down position and then moved to the ground where we worked the baseball bat choke from knee on belly. Afterwards is stuck around an impromptu open mat. All in all 2 hours of bjj today felt really good.

I rolled with the white belt (already forgot his name lol) and when with him I only worked my weak positions and tried to let him work his limited move set as much as possible.

Training 04-04-18

We worked the X Guard today in advanced class which is definitely not my strong suit. It was nice to drill 3 different sweeps from the same setup including one into a knee bar.

So I’m going on two weeks strong of logging my meals on MyFitnessPal (the good and the bad). I haven’t noticed any difference in weight but I definitely have noticed a difference in energy levels, particularly mid day.

Today is a busy day but I was able to sleep in an extra hour and hang out a workout right after waking up.

I even had time to make a decent breakfast to get the day started.

I finished off today’s workout with an arm blaster that a crusty old officer who I’m certain spent half his career in the gym showed me way back when I first started.

Basically you take an empty barbell (or loaded if your strong) and start barbell curl with reps going from 1 to 10 then from 10 back to one. This is designed as a partner workout so you have it off between reps and that is your rest. Since I’m working it solo I modified it to 1 rep 1 second rest – 2 reps 2 second rest – 3 reps 3 second rest – and you get the picture.

I wanted to do a lil more today but a combination of my knee acting up and waking up late forced me to cut it short. Also no matter which direction I went I swear this sun was shining in my eyes on purpose.

Also my Nike run watch decided to retire on me so fortunately a friend of mine had an old farm in watch they could donate to the cause. Today was my first time using it.
